Mens Golf

Opportunities for participation in events are frequent and varied. Depending on your time availability and passion, there are events for everyone. Typically scheduled on weekends and Holidays, traditional events at McHenry Country Club include: Memorial Day Weekend Tournament, Fourth of July Weekend Event, Member/Member Tournament, match play events, Men's Guest Day, the Club Championship, and the culminating event of the season- the Labor Day Weekend Event.

Ladies Golf

Membership in the Ladies Association is open to all ladies whose membership affiliation includes full golfing privileges. Regardless of skill level, those who wish to participate in competitive golf may sign up for weekly league play on Tuesdays or Saturdays as either an "18-holer" or a "9-holer". There is also provision for those ladies who choose only to golf occasionally, yet wish to be part of some of the organization's special events such as Guest Day and Hullabaloo. All club sponsored trophy events, including the club championship, are open to all ladies entitled to golf. In addition, the Ladies Association actively supports the long-standing McHenry Women's Invitational, described in detail elsewhere on this website. If golf doesn't happen to be your game, there are other social activities in the clubhouse for your enjoyment such a bridge and dominos.

McHenry Country Club is perhaps the only private club in the Chicagoland region which hosts a distinguished women's invitational golf tournament each year. The McHenry Women's Invitational (MWI) celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2004, testimony to its recognition as a long-standing tradition. Sponsored by the women of McHenry Country Club, this event is one of the premier amateur tournaments in the Midwest, drawing top local and regional talent every year. This event will be offered on Monday, July 30 and Tuesday, July 31, 2007.

Couples Golf

Throughout the season, McHenry Country Club offers numerous occasions for couples to play golf together. Among the traditionally scheduled events for couples are the Bolger Open, Couples Match Play, The Husband/Wife Championship and Night Golf. Less formal, but equally popular, are the couples golf events which are scheduled once a month on a weekend evening, and which often end with the players gathering after golf to enjoy dinner and entertainment in the clubhouse.

Junior Golf

The Junior Golf Program at McHenry Country Club is very active and involves youngsters of all ages. Open to children and grandchildren of Equity, Non-Equity, Senior and Junior Members, it is the ideal introduction for youngsters learning the game of golf and the social activities that surround it. The juniors meet every Thursday morning during the months of June, July and August. Participants will be instructed on the many facets of the game, rules, and etiquette; while many of the fundamentals are taught at the practice facility, youngsters are also given the opportunity to play on the course. Each child's instruction is custom designed to fit his/her own skill level, including determining the appropriate number of holes to be played afterward. Categories of instruction include Pee Wee, 2-Hole, 5-Hole, 9-Hole and 18-Hole divisions. The Junior Golf season concludes with a Junior Golf Banquet where all participants receive awards for participation and their outstanding play for the year.
